Digipak Ideas

Idea 1

For my first digipak idea, on the front cover I have drew a side profile view of Demi’s face. The reason I chose to do this is because it is showing off Demi’s long black hair, which is nice and aesthetically appealing to look at. I have chosen to have the artist name at the top in big and bold writing because then it is easy to spot the well-known artists CD cover. Also I have the name of the song ‘really don’t care’ at the bottom in bold writing, underneath the photo so it is easy to spot.  The front cover of the digipack is very basic and plain as this is the first look that I wanted to go for, I will most likely not use this design however though as the genre is dance pop and I would associate that with being very creative and fun-filled for a cover, which this is not.

However for the inside of my digipak this is very fun-filled and has a lot of different ideas going on within it. On the left hand side of the first page I have left a space and named it ‘lyrics’, as that is where the lyrics of Demi’s songs will be going. On the right hand side of the left page there is a column with 4 boxes running down it. This is for specifically exclusive photos of Demi that people will only see if they buy the CD. On the right hand side of the inside cover at the top of the page there is a section which I have labeled ‘Life Story’ here I will insert a section of something personal which has happened to Demi that she may want to share with her fans to create a feeling of synthetic personalisation between her and her fans that will be buying the CD. Below this I will add a ‘motivational quote’ that is specifically used by Demi, because as she has gone through some personal battles within her life fans may read this quote and feel that they can overcome their problems by reading this motivational quote as well. As a final tough I will complete the inside cover by adding a signature from Demi herself making the CD seem extremely personal, which I believe is a great effect.

For my back cover of my Digipak we can see Demi featuring on it singing down a microphone with two female guitarists in the background playing along with her. The location of this photo is outside in a city street as we can see featured in the background some very high buildings. I like this photo because I feel it contrasts with the albums front cover of a very serious attitude to then seeing Demi doing what she does best, having a really good time singing.  Showing to he audience that Demi can have a really good time but can also be a sensible person at the same time. The back of the cover therefore fits in well with my dance-pop genre.

Idea 2

For my second digipak idea, on the front of the album cover we can see Demi leaping up into the air with a very big smile on her face, playing the guitar. This portrays a very fun side to Demi and has a very good and positive vibes coming from it. Therefore I believe this front cover fits very well into my dance pop genre because of all of this. The cover will also feature the use of very bright cheerful colours e.g. pink, which I would also associate with the genre, dance pop.  Like in my first Digipak idea, again I have put Demi’s full name in large, bold writing at the top so it is easily noticeable who’s CD it actually is. However unlike the first Digipak the song name ‘really don’t care’ I have put slanted by the side of Demi as I feel this created a quirky and funky effect.

For the inside of my digipak, on the left page, this will be a lyric page and also have a track list of all the songs featured on the album. Then on the right hand side of the page I will continue to have lyrics however on the right hand side of the right page there is a column inserted. Here I will have exclusive photos of Demi that are only available to see for people who have bought the CD. Also in the middle of these photos there is going to be a personal quote from Demi creating yet again another personal effect to the CD creating a synthetic personalisation between the buyer and the artist, Demi Lovato. Then finally at the bottom if the right hand page I will include a signature from Demi making the CD seem even more extremely personal, which I believe is a great effect.

For my back cover it features Demi and two other women walking off into the distance with their hands thrown up into the air. The location for this will be in a city street as the photo features very tall building’s in front of the women, which is typically found in inner city locations. Above their heads is written ‘Really don’t care’ in big writing, this is expressing how the women are feeling as they have just thrown their hands up in the air as if they have no care in the world. This links in with my dance pop genre as it creates a fun effect.
