Taylor Swift released her song ‘Shake It Off’ as a single before the release of her album, 1989. Her digipak for the single has the same style and format to her album.

You can see a theme of Polaroid pictures and handwritten titles/lyrics on both covers. She has put the single in a simple plastic case with no back cover. The information that would usually be on the back cover has been printed onto the CD instead. I think this is a great idea as you can see the CD inside and it makes it unique. However, we would not be able to do this for our digipak, as we don’t have the resources to be able to print onto a CD. The plastic casing is something we would consider doing as it looks more professional than paper or cardboard.

Lady Gaga has styled her front and back cover for her single on the music video. The pictures of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga are taken from scenes in the music video.

I like this idea because it keeps a continued theme throughout the video and digipak. When you see the digipak, it instantly makes you think about the video. This could be a possibility for us as we could take screenshots from our video and put them onto the digipak. This would save time and mean that we wouldn’t have to do another photo-shoot just for the digipak.

Miley Cyrus as used a simplistic idea for her digipak. The front cover simply shows a picture of who the artist is, with the title of the song and her name. For our digipak, we may use the idea of a photo for the front cover but it is only an idea. The back shows a plain back background with the list of songs featured on the CD. Although this would be an easy design for us to follow, I think this design is too boring. This digipak has a colour scheme of black, red and white which could be a good idea for our digipak as it looks more organized and professional.
